Happy birthday in advance JQ!  Jumped off the mountain this morning.  It was pretty chilly but a good, albeit initially white-knuckle, flight.  Just finished hiking halfway up the Zugspitz which is the highest mountain in Germany.  Took at least four hours not counting time at the restaurant up there where I paid 10 euros (about $15) for four hot dog weenies with mustard on them plus a couple scoops of potato salad and a small glass of fizzy mineral water.  I pays for the ambience I guess.  Taking lots of photos but did not video my flight (hands too cold and white knuckles).  Paying close attention to the blisters.  Will have less walking tomorrow as I'm taking my one and only bus tour of the "Crown Jewels of Munich" so I can play tour guide for my friends next year.  I doubt the tour will take us into clothing-optional  Englisher Park.  Taking some ibuprofin when I get to the cabin in anticipation of some serious foot and leg soreness.  More when I get a chance.  Ya'll  take care.

So glad to hear from you and glad you are having a ball. I believe we all need those white knuckle times in our lives. They help us really know what we are made of.

Take care of the feet and if you do get to go into Englisher Park......skip the pics!  :lol

Good to hear a report from you. :ghurray2: Soak up the ambiance while you can.

BTW, I got to worrying about you not being able to access OCH with your android, so I opened up the whole 88. IP for while you are there. I do hope it is unblocked now and that you are no longer "Banned for Life". :giggle

I hope you're having a good time and learning new things, besides all about blisters, etc.

Back.  Been up for 36 hours straight.  Planes, trains, and automobiles.  Will post when I'm coherent (after much needed sleep).  Lots of photos.

The pizza was an oddessey.  I've had a birthday pizza for at least the past 40 years.  My plan was to get my pizza at Zuggy's Base Camp inside the lodge as their pizzas are pretty good.  However, for some crazy reason as I saw it, they had Hot Wings and Fries night on my birthday and that's the only thing they serve.  So my fallback was a German restaurant on Zugspitz Strasse specializing in pizza.  Walked a mile down to it and determined they close on Thursday (my birthday).  So I went to my tertiary potential which was the local Pizza Hut which was open.  Got the buffet and an alcohol-free beer.  I'm careful about beer, with alcohol or otherwise, because I consider it liquid bread in terms of carbs (I'm diabetic).  BTW, all that walking over there even with blisters resulted in a loss of 3 pounds for the ten day period.  Hiking up to the halfway house was like being on a heavily inclined stairmaster for about an hour--the walk up was pretty much straight up except for the occasional switchback.  I did a daily journal which I will post when my mind is not so clouded.

Terrific pics!

I bet with all the walking you did while you were there Dan you probably found the diet a little easier to deal with?

It seems you had a great time. :gclap2

Who's On First? - My daughter asked me to help her on a homework project (been a long time there) because she has to do a paper on a comedy from before 1960 so me being an old fart makes me an expert on the subject using her logic.  I showed her the classic Abbott & Costello Who's On First routine.  She had never seen it before and laughed so much.  Classic comedy is, well, classic.  My wife found this hilarious when she was learning English once she understood all the words.  Here's a youtube link.

Well, I won't be calling my dad to wish Happy New Year anymore.  Things change as you age and I'm at the age now where the changes accelerate.  But I can wish all OCH folks a HAPPY NEW YEAR!  It's my wish it will be a peaceful and productive year for all.
