Mending sheets
« on: April 29, 2014, 01:32:54 PM »

Today I patching a sheet I have had for a good while that had a tear in it, (a so soft cotton 800 count) very much worth saving.

Do you mend your sheets?

Good friends are like stars...
        You don't always see them,
but know they are always there.

Not often, but I don't usually have really high-quality sheets either.

Instead I cut them up into bandages for our First Aid Kits. I make cravats or triangular bandages and roller bandages (2", 4" and 6") by approx. however long the sheet is. Generally I cut a triangular bandage from each corner, leaving the center rectangle cut on the diagonal bias of the threads, which makes the roller bandages a little stretchy and since they are cut on the bias, they don't unravel.

I'll try to get an article made up about homemade bandages & dressings soon.
