Drying Coconut today
« on: July 10, 2016, 09:02:41 AM »
I have some shredded coconut in the freezer and I will be drying it today.  After I dry it I will grind it in to smaller pieces. I have done this before and it is like toasted coconut. I can still cook with it or use it to sprinkle on anything.

A good while back we got a great deal on sweetened coconut flakes (10 lb for $5 )
I packed it up in quart size food savor bags. I shared  several bags with family.
and froze the rest.
Now most of it is gone I took 4 qt. out of the freezer to dehydrate.
From the research I have done lately it says it is like desiccated coconut.
I have bought desiccated coconut to make candy like the Mounds.
All I did then was add corn syrup till it was stick but held together

I hope to try this with my dehydrated coconut ( did put it in the blender to chop it into smaller pieces)
