Dehydrating at home
« on: May 29, 2015, 03:55:56 PM »
I made some pumpkin roll ups day before yesterday. I you have been following the kitchen posts
you know about the pumpkin juice I had made Christmas and froze the leftover.
So I thought It would be a good start for my bigger dehydrator.
I did cook it some to reduce it to a thicker consistence. ( in the crock pot without the lid so I wouldn't have to watch it all the time. Following dehydrator directions and 8 hours later i made the best tasting roll ups they taste just like pumpkin pie. I did as some grapefruit peel on another shelf to grind up for that citrus flavor in things

Sounds very tasty.  How do you keep from eating it all up in or two days?

It's not easy  :1-giggle:

I hope to try other flavors to have when the grand children come this summer.
I want to try and see how they do if I vacuum seal them and put them in the freezer for a while
and see how the hold up after thawing for more of a long term thing

I forgot to post this Monday so I will do it now.  :)

I dried the cooked deer meat that was left on the bones (pressure cooked) I left it in small chucks for stews and soups.
I had almost a quart, so now it is vacuum sealed and waiting to be uses.

DH said it would be good to crumble up on salads like you would bacon too.
