AWE, I am truly saddened to learn of QMs passing.   :imsorry:  :icon_hug:  Though I never had the pleasure of meeting her in person, she seemed to be such a talented and caring person.  My world was brightened by reading her posts and enjoying the pictures of her work.

I can't begin to imagine the devastation you all are dealing with.  I've been through several tornadoes, but they are here and gone, they don't linger for days as hurricanes do.  I'm sending you a PM with my phone number in case I can help you in any way.  Please feel free to call me.

OMG Elle Mae, I am so sorry I did not come here earlier and let you all know that my dearest friend of 45 years QM has passed away in July from a cancer which was a complication of her COPD and many other ailments. Surrounded by her loving family she slipped into a peaceful sleep and left us all heartbroken and missing her every day. Her husband Frank, daughter Stacey survived Irma with little damage. Both of their power went out AFTER Irma was through and was off for several days. All O.K. now. Their other daughter took family up to Mass, came back to nothing. Their house had suffered some damage from something else before Irma and they were moving when Irma decided to arrive. They are staying with Frank now and looking for a new place to live.

Four garbage bags of food out in the trash today. I went to the grocery store, spent $80 and barely put anything in the fridge, nothing in the freezer but one Maria Callendar Pot Pie. It is truly pitiful.  :2funny:

I am hoping that everyone else has not had any damage. With everything out in the ocean presently, it looks like it's going to be a really active season.

Enjoying my peace and quiet now that I'm home. The yard guy came again today and finished up. Looks really good and almost back to normal except for the trees that fell. Of course the dead one that I have been hoping would fall is still standing tall, grey and dead as a doornail. Go figure.

Thanks for the  :icon_hug: Always appreciated and right back at 'ya.

Eat, drink and be merry.

So glad to hear that you were safe and sound through the storm and that your property is mostly ok.  You are truly very fortunate, but I'm sure you know that.  I've been thinking of the Our Country Haven 'extended family' who were caught in the devastation of both Irma and Harvey and hoping all are safe.

Thank you for letting us know that you and your property made it through, unlike many, many others.  Have you heard from QM?  I know she lives in your general vicinity.  Please ask her to check in so we know she's alright also.

Here's a big OCH  :icon_hug: for you and yours.

Back home from PA today. My yard guy was here yesterday and took care of most of my damage and will return tomorrow to mow, edge, etc. Still has some wood to cut and remove but the two big trees that came down are gone. I missed it all being in PA for grandson #2's 4th birthday. I know I was better off up there but it didn't eliminate the stress of not knowing what was happening to my house.
Tomorrow is trash day so everything in my fridge and freezer will be going. 68 hours without power is a little too much to save anything. HOWEVER, the good thing is that since the fridge will be empty I'll get a bucket of hot soapy water and clean it and the freezer out.

I hope everyone was safe from Irma and did not have any property damage.

Our Country Sunporch / End of Summer 2017

Good Evening Everyone. Thankfully today is the end of the last hurrah of summer and all the weekenders, campers, tubers, 4 wheelers, all their nasty kids, cars and boats have gone home. The trees are sighing in relief and the deer are coming out of hiding. The rain on Saturday kept the noise down but Sunday and today was just a 4 wheeler happy dance, up and down my road 'til I thought I'd scream. Well, enough of that. It's over now and I'll only have the same six cars and trucks on the road tomorrow.

Off to PA on Thursday to celebrate the youngest grandson's 4th birthday. Be back on the 17th. Of course if Irma has her way and finds a home in Florida I'll be worried sick. Keeping a good thought and praying for another reprieve.

How has everyone been? Got an email from CL a few weeks ago, maybe a month ago, you know how time is when you are old. I've been doing good. Doing lots of sewing, mostly finishing things I started years ago and making purses to rejuvenate my Etsy store before Christmas. I am hoping to find a few more patterns and to keep sewing 'til my fingers fall off.

Gotta go. I need to find something for dinner and get back in the sewing room. Hope to talk to y'all again soon.

Our Country Sunporch / Happy Saturday on the Sunporch

Good morning everyone. Today is Saturday and I'm looking forward to five days off. Moved all my work to two days so I have a lot of time to work on my quilt top that I am trying to get finished to take to the quilter. I started this quilt in 2010 so friends, it's time. Two of my quilting sisters have been dragging me to a Wednesday group every week and things are getting done.

How is everyone doing? I miss you all and hope you're all doing great. I really need to get here more.

Strange weather we've all been having. I hope none of you have been caught up in it. We had a few tonados a few weeks ago and two days without power. Luckily my house was undamaged but some were not so lucky. So many large trees downed, the county is still clearing debris from the roads everyday.

Have a great day everyone. I'm sewing and cooking today. I hope you all get to do something you enjoy today.

Thank you for putting on the coffee pot L2Q  :1-best: !!!   :icon_hug:  It's good to see you!!  You're going to be one busy lady putting up that half beef, but it surely will be comforting to know you have it in the pantry.

Speaking of yucky weather.......we had SIX inches of new snow the night before last!!  Now I realize that compared to a lot of the areas we did well, but that was surely a wakeup call (literally) when we got up the next morning to all the whiteness!!  Fortunately for us, the backup battery on our whole house generator decided to need replaced TWO days prior to the snow hitting, so the repair man got it replaced just in time and as luck would have it we didn't have occasion to need it........ :whisper: but we all know what would have happened if it hadn't been replaced.

I just got home from the doctor (and I've heard rumors that some folks actually go other places than the doctor, but not me) about 20 minutes ago.  Today I was at the nephrologist, sent there by my primary care physician who didn't like the looks of some of the blood tests from my wellness check up.  Turns out I have a golf ball sized (his words not mine) fluid filled cyst on each kidney.  Aren't I just the lucky one???  So he is sending me to have more and different blood work done and a CT scan of my kidneys to see if anything else is going on.  He said if everything came back ok that he  would just need to keep checking my kidneys, but that nothing else would need to be done.  I asked him about draining the cysts and he said no....unless the cysts started to grow or change otherwise.  So I guess I AM the lucky one.   :1-giggle:

I hope everything is going well for everyone else!!!  Love you all!!!  Stay safe and stay warm   :grouphugg:

:GMSmiley1: OCH!  Hope you are all surviving the unpredictable weather we're experiencing around the country.

There's     :8-coffee: and hot chocolate to go with  :8-cinbuns: and banana muffins.

We just got our annual half a beef so I'll be spending the weekend canning up the rest of the ground beef and a couple of roasts that we have left from last year.  If I have time and my canning jar order arrives on time, I'll do a canner load of chicken too.

Stay warm and dry everyone and have a great weekend.

Well it has been a couple of weeks --

the Tomatoes are coming up very well and the spaghetti squash is starting to sprout as well.

Seems as thought the hydrogen peroxide in a bottle of water is working good.

I am getting so excited to get more new heirloom seeds to start
